Collective worship

Vision Statement

Our school is a place where everyone can flourish. A place where staff, parents, governors and the church work together, building a RICH, inspiring and spiritual education. A place where every child is provided with solid foundations to become a life-long learner.

‘Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.’

1 Thessalonians 5:11

Our School Prayer

This is our school, let peace dwell here, let the room be full of contentment,

let love abide here, love of one another, love of life itself and love of God.

Let us remember that as many hands built a house, so many hearts make a school.

Amen

Our Visitors - CICS (Christians in Calderdale Schools)

We are very lucky to welcome back the CICS team for our morning worships. The team visit us every other Thursday, leading our worships by 'Opening the Book'. The children enjoy learning about the different bible stories, especially when they got to interact with the story and cheer and gasp. A few children even get to take part in the performance and definitely looked the part. We always look forward to our next visit when we Open the Book.

Collective Worship in our school

The aim of Collective Worship in our school is to provide the opportunity for pupils to:

  • Provide an experience of worship that will inspire children to respond to the presence, power and peace of God.
  • Introduce children to Christian language, liturgy (including the Lord’s Prayer) and symbolism as well as the cycle of the Anglican church year.
  • Include the whole school community with participating in and leading times of collective worship.
  • Strengthen and support the school community giving expression to and reaffirming the Christian values of the school.
  • Celebrate the gifts that each child brings to the school community, recognising the uniqueness of each individual made in the image of God.
  • Invite children to be inquisitive about the wonder and mystery of the world around them and to reflect on the big questions that life poses.
  • Foster a respect and care for themselves and for others within the school, the Christian community and wider world.
  • Inspire an appreciation of the created world and an awareness of our responsibility to care for it.
  • To explore the Holy Trinity including God (the source of all life); Jesus (who reveals God’s love) and the Holy Spirit (who makes the presence of Jesus known in the world)
